USGS is a world leader in the natural sciences through our scientific excellence and responsiveness to society’s needs. As the Nation’s largest water, earth, and biological science and civilian mapping agency, USGS collects, monitors, analyzes, and provides science about natural resource conditions, issues, and problems. Our diverse expertise enables us to carry out large-scale, multidisciplinary investigations and provide impartial scientific information to resource managers, planners, and other customers. As part of our mission, the USGS manages the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) on behalf of the lidar-user community and the public, with the goal to provide nationwide data to support a broad range of applications.
