This complimentary workshop is being hosted by Harris Geospatial Solutions the day after ILMF (Thursday, January 31) at the Hyatt Regency at the Colorado Convention Center in Agate B&C.In this one day workshop you will learn how you can use the LiDAR tools in ENVI to extract 3D features and elevation-based products. ENVI supports the most common LiDAR formats and you can generate elevation products. ENVI also automatically extracts 3D features from LiDAR point clouds.
*Registration for this workshop is not included in the registration site for the International LiDAR Mapping Forum. To register for this event, click here.

ENVI provides a complete set of image processing and analysis tools and is designed to help users get the most out of their data. The Feature Extraction (FX) module allows users to extract features from point cloud data, as well as multispectral and hyperspectral imagery.
This workshop focuses on using the ENVI FX module to display and extract information from 3-D point clouds. ENVI FX supports most common LiDAR formats such as LAS, Binary, ASCII, and NITF LiDAR. Using the FX module, you can generate elevation products such as Digital Surface Models (DSMs), Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), and digital elevation contours. ENVI FX automatically extracts 3D features from LiDAR point clouds such as buildings, trees, power lines, and power poles. In addition, the software can be customized to extract any features from LiDAR point clouds. Products derived from LiDAR data processing are ready for import directly into a GIS.
Prerequisites: A basic understanding of LiDAR data is useful but not necessary. Some experience with remote sensing and/or GIS software is useful but not necessary.

A laptop computer is required to attend this workshop. A temporary ENVI license will be issued prior to the start of the workshop and all attendees are required to install the software and ensure that it is working prior to the start of the workshop. Verify system requirements here.
A small number of laptops are available to borrow on a first come, first serve basis. If you need to borrow a laptop, you will be able to request one during registration.
The Extracting Information from LiDAR data workshop is complimentary.
