Evolving Mapping with UAS Multi-Beam Flash LiDAR

Following a decade of limited innovation in LiDAR, a new wave of high-resolution semiconductor hardware is scaling down sensor size, weight, cost, and power consumption, resulting in greater portability, new applications, and simplified integration. From portable surveying to autonomous firefighting tanks to mapping on the moon, Multi-beam Flash LiDAR has the resolution to lower flight times and operational costs, a compact form factor to replace multiple bulky sensors, and the affordability to be accessible across multiple business use cases. Apollo Robotics has collaborated with Ouster to demonstrate how they have integrated LiDAR into a new portfolio of survey drones to challenge the standard in UAV mapping.
