Biography

Cathy Wilson is a Senior Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), where she has held positions as Deputy Division Leader for Earth and Environmental Sciences, Director of the LANL Energy Security Center and Team Leader for Atmosphere, Climate and Ecosystems Sciences. Cathy currently leads LANL’s Climate Impacts on National Security program. She is a co-Principal Investigator of the DOE Office of Biological and Environmental Research’s Next Generation Ecosystem Experiment (NGEE) – Arctic project, and leads the multi-institution permafrost hydrology focus area for this project. Cathy is a hydrologist and geomorphologist who aims to improve understanding of climate impacts and feedbacks through better representation of Arctic processes in Earth system models. She is a member of the US Permafrost Association Board of Directors, the NSF SEARCH Permafrost Action Team, and the International Arctic Science Committee- Cryosphere Working Group.
