Mr. Joshua Nimetz

Elevation Program Area Lead - USGS

Biography

I have been engaged professionally in the airborne lidar industry since 2000, working for three different commercial geospatial firms during much of that time. In January 2017 I took a position with the USGS National Geospatial Technical Operation Center (NGTOC) as elevation program area lead. My professional experience in the airborne lidar industry covers much of the operational spectrum including flight and ground survey planning, data acquisition, and data production. In my new role with the USGS, I provide technical and logistical guidance to center staff and external stakeholders in matters related to the USGS 3D Elevation Program (3DEP). I earned a B.Sc. in environmental science and policy from the California State University, Monterey Bay in 2000 and a M.Eng. in GIS from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2017. In 2012 I became an ASPRS Certified Mapping Scientist – Remote Sensing
