Junichi Takiguchi is a Deputy General Manager of HD Map Solution unit, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. He has a MSc in Artificial Intelligence from Edinburgh University, UK, and a Ph. D. of Mechanical Engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan.
Dr. Takiguchi oversees HD Map solution business at the company for Asia, the United States, and Europe including developing effective solutions and usages of base data of the maps together with survey, mapping companies and manufacturers.
He joined Mitsubishi Electric in 1986 and worked for defense and satellite group as a satellite based navigation engineer. In 2003, he invented Japan’s first commercial based MMS by harnessing his expertise of positioning engineer. Up to the present he has joined many MMS related products. From 2012, he also has worked on the Japanese Quasi-Zenith Satellite System project which provides high precision GNSS positioning services to mass market applications in Japan.
Dr. Takiguchi is active in the academic field as well. He has engaged in fostering the future generations of positioning engineers. From 2007 to 2012, he undertook research and education in mechanical engineering of Waseda University as a visiting associate professor.
